Name: Centehua (meaning 'only one' in Nahuatl)
Age: 498 and a half.
Birthdate: April 22, 1512.
Place of Birth: Tenochtitlan, present-day Mexico
Gender: Female
Alliance: Chaotic Evil
Type: The Dragon
Personality: She thinks the idea of 'witches' rights' is silly and naive. Her feeling is that humans will never be able to accept the differences in others, even among themselves. She is a strong voice for all-out war between witches and humans. She has a homocidal streak a mile wide, and has a particular fondness for killing men with beards, since the first beards she saw were those of the conquistadores. She desires to gain more power, and intends to become Mabaa-sama's successor. She is very forceful and stubborn, as unmovable in her ideas as an oak tree.
Appearance: Centehua has the appearance of a young woman. She has copper skin, long blue-black hair, and a fondness for jade, gold, and obsidian jewelry. She prefers to wear traditional Aztec clothing. Her familiar is a ten-foot wingless dragon with jewel-like scales and a thick mane of feathers.
History: Centehua was brought up by her father in the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan. She was named Centehua, meaning the only one, because she was the only surviving child after two stillborns before her mother died birthing her. Her father was a witch, and helped his daughter grow her power. He was also a member of the upper class during Moctezuma's reign, and was held in high favor at the court. Moctezuma knew of his witchcraft, and used it for personal gain. During the Spanish colonization, Moctezuma's court held a celebration of Toxcatl, a festival of one of their main gods, in the main temple. The Spaniards were present because they had not yet begun full takeover. Their hearts were filled with greed as they watched the dancers and the large amount of gold and jade they were wearing. They decided among themselves to slaughter everyone in the temple. Men, women, and children, none were spared. Many tried to run, but there were more men outside the entrance who laughed as they massacred everyone. As the first people fell, Centehua's father scooped her up and ran with her to the communal houses. He placed her in a closet and told her to make not a sound. Then he put a shielding spell on her hding place and ran off to fight. That was the last time she ever saw him.
Once the noises outside completely stopped, Centehua peeked out of the closet. Seeing no one, she left her hiding spot and went to find her father, casting a spell of invisibility. What she saw made her vomit. As she left the communal house a wave of stench hit her like a physical force, causing her to stagger back. It was the smell of blood, but tens of thousands of times more than what she had ever experienced before. Her eyes met a horrifying sight. There in the courtyard were the mutilated bodies of the people she had spet her life with, their blood covering the floor and splattered on the wall. She dropped to her knees and sobbed. She knew, somehow, that her father was among the dead.
She knew that the Spainards would return soon to pick the bodies clean of valuables, so she fled into the jungle. Her father had taught her how to survive on her own in there through witchcraft and natural knowledge. She lived there for a year, not daring to leave for fear that the conquistadores would find and kill her. Finally she made up her mind to return to Tenochtitlan, for the sake of human contact if nothing else. What she found there turned her world upside-down. Instead of the brave, proud warriors and nobility she had always known, there were strange members of other tribes looting the city and Spaniards burning the temples. That day, April 20 1521, she swore an oath of vengeance on any and all of the conquistadores.
Since then she has attended witches' mass. She could care less about Mabaa-sama, but does what she says because it usually involves killing people, and she enjoys that.
Powers: A chant of Xoxocti Yoliliztli Niltze allows her to control any plant life in a five-foot radius. She has a feathered dragon familiar that can fly and give her extra power. With the familiar's help Xoxocti Yoliliztli Niltze allows her to control any plant life within a fifty-foot radius. The plants gain abnormal strength, giving her the ability to make spears out of grass and unbreakable tethers out of vines and roots. Fire works only half as well on the plants, and not at all if she has enough concentration to shield them with magic. This power is not unlimited, however, as she has to concentrate on each plant to make it do her bidding. If her concentration is broken, she will lose control of the spell. To prevent this, her familiar has become extremely skilled at defense and blocking spells.
Strengths: Persuasive, willful and cunning, she is excellent at getting what she wants. She has huge magical reserves stored in her dragon. She is also skilled in hand-to-hand combat with short obsidian knives and is very physically strong as a result of excercise and not magic.
Weaknesses: She has poured most of her power into her familiar, the feathered dragon. Although this means she has incredible power when they're working together, if separated her magic is weak. She flies into intense and violent fits of rage at a moment's notice, and it takes at least two other people to subdue her. She also has terrible flashbacks of the night Tenochtitlan was ransacked, and they can leave her sobbing for the mother she never knew. These flashbacks are usually triggered by being in an enclosed, dark space.
